Seattle Weekly's Description

Some people believe that in the best fish 'n chips, the fish serves simply as a vehicle for the thick herb breading it's fried in. Those people are incorrect. Truly great versions of the dish use the breading simply as an accessory to flaky, moist, tender strips of succulent white fish. These are the fish 'n chips that Ivar's serves. The rest of the restaurant's menu is nothing special, but works well for out of town visitors. And the fish tacos are a perfectly delicious happy hour snack. But if you're hankering for fantastic fish 'n chips, head to one of their many locations.

Tips from foursquare

  • In back of Ivar’s at the covered outdoor eating area, looking out at the Olympics, the seagulls congregate. Have a friend feed them to capture the birds in flight with great background scenery.

The seminal Seattle seafront restaurant, has a family-friendly happy hour with dishes up to half off, including the clam chowder. Try the blackened Alaska cod tacos. Happy hour 3-7 M-Th, 3-11 F

Don't be fooled by the huge bar area -- it fills up quickly! $3 food, $3.50 drinks. More Happy Hour info on our HH app: http://www.gotime.com/seattle/mobile
