Description

Seattle Weekly's Description

This place is haunted. That's what the bartender will tell you anyway. If that doesn't creep you out, order a Bloody Mary and a plate of nachos and do what most people who come to this classic watering hole do: Drink in the energy of the crazy crowd that crams into this cozy basement space. Stashed beneath the European-style bed and breakfast from which it takes its name, the College Inn Pub draws a distinctly different crowd than the majority of other Ave bars. Skewing towards UW grad students and hipsters rather than frat boys, the basement locale's carved wooden booths and benches give off a relaxed, stay-a-while vibe. The full bar is balanced by a respectable beer selection, and the proximity to UW's campus translates into fair prices. If you're planning on a pre-game or post-game drink here, arrive early to beat the rush. Happy hour runs weekdays from 4 to 6.

Tips from foursquare

  • Metromix on 05/25/10

Great nightly specials, including $1 pints of PBR. Cheers!

The best chili in town. A great comfort food for cold days at UW. The bathroom graffiti is tawdry but funny.

  • Rachel P. on 12/01/09

    $3.50 nachos all day Mondays

  • Derek P. on 11/05/09

Get in line early for beer

  • brad n. on 12/02/11

One of the best bars in Seattle. It's underground, so it's perfect for cold dark winter nights. Plus the beer selection is top notch.
