Description

Seattle Weekly's Description

"Lebanese food" has become shorthand for sloppy, garlicky shawarma sandwiches, which does a disservice to Lebanon's French culinary heritage and cosmopolitan past. Cafe Munir politely reminds diners of both with its highly romantic dining room, which feels as though it should be located at the end of a shabby European alleyway. The hummus is excellent, even without the garnish of lamb that servers recommend (although a dash of the house hot sauce doesn't hurt), and the labneh and grilled kabobs are very good. But it's a dish traditionally associated with Egyptian breakfasts that makes the can't-miss list: The ful, or fava bean stew, is souful and wonderful at any hour.
