Seattle Weekly's Description

The Homestead eschews modernity, which is why so few Seattleites (particularly those under 65) know it's there. Regardless of your entrée choice (most go with the famous all-you-can-eat fried chicken, but the buttery baked halibut is great, too), your meal will begin with a basket of biscuits and jam, a small cup of soup, and a simple iceberg salad. The entrée arrives with rice, baked or mashed potatoes, and vegetables. Just like at Grandma's house.

  • HISTORY on 04/12/10

This two-and-a-half-mile strip of sandy beach is one of the most popular beaches in the area, and it was also where Seattle's first non-Native American settlers spent their first winter.

Perfect on a sunny day in Seattle! Take Beach Drive, walk the beach, roller skate, bike, or build a bonfire and sit around with friends. Spud Fish & Chips is the best!

  • Jen M. on 11/19/09

Go to Alki Beach. Do some rollerblading, running or just enjoy the beautiful view of the Seattle skyline!
