Description

It's been here forever, and people come from miles around for the delicious sausage varieties at Schreiner's. Most of these spicy, traditional family recipes were brought over from Germany, but the Schreiners also offer regional favorites from Portugal, Spain, England, Poland and Mexico. Health-conscious consumers can dine on low-fat chicken and turkey links in a variety of flavors, and no matter what you order, only the finest ingredients are used and all meat is hand-boned, ground and stuffed into natural casings and naturally hickory smoked. Is your mouth watering? Get going!

Even if you've never been to Schreiners, you've probably eaten their sausage - they supply a huge number of local restaurants, food trucks, and block parties. If you're into brats, their bratwurst is fantastic. If you're into Polish, they have 'em both smoked and non-. If you like hot dogs with a snap, Schreiners is where you get 'em. Great lunchbag deals on food ready to eat, and a large assortment of meats for you to take home and cook.

  • 2010 | Best Sausage

Describe a flavor with adjectives like smoky, spicy, and multi-layered, and you might expect to be sampling a fine wine, not noshing on the culinary handiwork of the folks at Schreiner's Fine Sausages. After having purchased the business from its original owners, Gary Schiller has been handcrafting quality meat products for almost 30 years. His experience and love for the business is evident in the amazing flavors produced in the small smoke shop located behind the iconic red-and-white... More »

  • 2009 | Best Sausage

From their red and white bungalow at Seventh Street and Whitton Avenue, the Shillers, scions of sausage sultan Hugo Schreiner, have been stuffing casings and Phoenicians since 1955. They've added a flavor or two to keep up with our changing palates, and low-fat for expanding waistlines, but it's the classics that keep us coming back for more. Like their linguisa, a Portuguese creation with a bit of fiery kick, or the summer favorite of BBQers everywhere, the bratwurst. Or their Cajun tasso... More »

  • 2001 | Best Wurst Case Scenario

This is the stuff all sausages should be made of -- homemade European-style tubes crafted from recipes unchanged by Schreiner's since 1958. And with more than 100 varieties, there are no missing links here. We're partial to Polish kielbasa, German brat and brockwurst and Hungarian kishke, although sometimes we take the high-health road and go for low-fat poultry models.Schreiner's, we salute your sausages. • 2000 | Best Place to Find the Wurst

Better cancel that flight to the Bavarian Alps you booked because you're craving authentic, homemade European-style sausages. They're being stuffed and cranked out right here in the Valley by Schreiner's, whose funky smokehouse store has remained virtually unchanged since it opened in 1958. On the off chance you can't find anything you like from more than 100 different international recipes owners Gary and Nancy Schiller use regularly (including ones for Polish kielbasa, German brat and...
