Description

A Sazerac is a cocktail highly favored by cultivated New Orleanians, and there's a strong Creole accent to Jason McClure's menu: catfish, crawdads, and spicy andouille sausage served with everything from breakfast eggs to late-night pizza. Even the West Coast influence can't lighten up the food-truth be told, the more time your dish has spent in hot oil, the better. Duck breasts and roasted vegetable platters, no. Beignets and shrimp cakes, yes.

This jazzy place on Fourth Avenue is named after a Louisiana cocktail made with whiskey, Pernod, Peychaud's Bitters, and sugar. To start a recent evening with something less potent, I ordered a Manhattan ($8.50), but sure enough, there it was—that... More »

The first time I went here was about a year ago by chance. From that point on, my boyfriend and I went every Friday night. We always sit at the chef's counter, and have a good relationship with one of the head chefs, Gary. Unfortunately, my boyfriend and I are no longer in an monetary position to go every week, but whenever we do go, they remember us and treat us so well! GREAT food, for not too expensive of a price. While their menu changes seasonally, our favorites are the prawns, ANY kind of steak on the menu, and the chocolate mousse dessert.
