Sandrina's is a below-the-radar gem on Arsenal that draws a diverse crowd of south city folk. Hipsters and hoosiers commingle over pool in the game room upstairs or face off in shuffleboard on the main floor. A mural of St. Louis luminaries is in progress in the dining room, but drinking with Jean Harlow and Vincent Price isn't the only reason why Sandrina's is everyone's favorite post-1:30 bar. Sandrina's serves up a late-night menu of traditional bar fare that's perfect for soaking up the booze; and unlike most late-night eateries, the food here is good enough to eat in the daytime too.
The Veggielante has had it up to here with people bitching that St. Louis restaurants are vegetarian unfriendly. Sure, we'd like to see more restaurants offering more meatless dishes, but there are ex... More »
Guess where we ate vegetarian nachos and you could win $25 to Hannegan's Restaurant and Pub (719 North Second Street; 314-241-8877). Hint: We chowed down at a bar near Tower Grove Park. Rules: To be ... More »
Selecting Riverfront Times' Best of St. Louis 2011 was no picnic. Choosing the winner meant several worthy candidates would go unmentioned -- until now. In this RFT Music series, we're beeboping and ... More »
There's no poetry in a hot toddy. No sex. No glamour. It sounds like "hot teddy" but has nothing in common with a negligee and everything in common with flannel pajamas. Don't go gazing into your glas... More »
For most people, the basic requirement for a great 3 a.m. bar is to serve drinks until 3 a.m. Revelers want to keep the party going, fueling one last push of early-morning debauchery before heading home. Sandrina's, in the conveniently located Southwest Garden neighborhood, takes the service to the next level with a kitchen that's open until 2 a.m. The only thing better than late-night drinks is accompanying them with late-night munchies. The bar has enough space to accommodate at least four... More »
Contrary to what your parents think, you are now a sophisticated adult, and being sophisticated means early-morning food cravings no longer come in the form of greasy-spoon slingers after a night of Jäger-induced vomiting-slash-cold sweats. No, these days you want real food. And while real food after midnight is tough to find in St. Louis, Sandrina's serves up its full menu till 2 a.m., seven days a week. And we're not talking just juicy burgers and fries here. We mean stuff such as... More »
There's something thrilling about hanging out in a bar where you don't belong. As if the French Minister of Culture is going to bust in at any time, cuff your hands behind your back and drag you to impostor's prison. You do not belong at Sandrina's, not unless you're a shifty-eyed, chain-smoking old-timer. Sure, no one's going to arrest you if you show up, but Sandrina's is nonetheless a blast because they actually do make it sort of difficult to hang out there. It's only open Wednesday... More »
