Summer in Phoenix means one thing: Everyone's pretending they're somewhere else. If you can't actually get out of town to escape the heat, make the most of the Valley of the Sun at one of these top h... More »

The last gasps of summer vacation are here, and there are plenty of excuses to take your last few days off and head to the pool. Like any true desert, Phoenix has a few hot spots where the herd gath... More »
Beau Macmillan is nothing short of a celebrity chef, with a resume that includes hosting Food Network's Worst Chef in America, winning Iron Chef America, and serving as executive chef of Elements. And, lucky for Valley residents, every year... More »
Yeah, yeah, you'll pick up all kinds of helpful kitchen tips at Sanctuary's "Lunch & Learn" series -- which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year -- but the truth is, if you're going to shell out $125 for a cooking lesson, it'd better be from the likes of Robert Irvine. And it just might be. Each summer, Sanctuary executive chef Beau MacMillan invites a few of his Food Network pals out for a posh little summer vacay and a lap around the kitchen -- and you're invited,... More »
We believe risk-takers should be rewarded, even if their gambles don't pay off. Luckily for Sanctuary Camelback Mountain, their choice to spend millions of dollars on renovations in a down economy was worthwhile. The revamped hotel became even more breathtakingly gorgeous with the addition of a state-of-the-art gourmet kitchen space for celeb chef Beau MacMillan and Praying Monk, a glass-walled dining area with a view of its rocky namesake on Camelback Mountain. The desert landscape views... More »
It's not the biggest pool in town, and it's not even the flashiest (you won't find any fountains or water slides at this serene spot), but there are still three good reasons why the pool at Sanctuary on Camelback is our favorite place for a swim: location, location, location. Nestled amidst an oasis of lush palm trees and palo verdes that lazily wave in the breeze, it looks like a placid turquoise lagoon under the big, blue Arizona sky, with a sweet view of Camelback Mountain and the Praying... We've learned the hard way that boutique hotel does not always equal luxury hotel. Don't be sucked in by a fancy lobby and a ritzy bar -- it doesn't mean your room will be up to par. When we're looking for luxury in an intimate setting, we head up the mountain to Sanctuary, which offers a great view of the Praying Monk and makes the most of its location with a hilly climb (or golf cart ride) up to a beautiful casita, where you'll find more gorgeous views and a setting hip enough for Paris... Every year, the sunsets in the Valley just seem to get better and better. We'd tell you that's because of the increase in pollution, which, at twilight, lights the sky on fire with pinks and oranges. But that would be a buzz kill. Better to simply send you over to the jade bar -- the bar adjacent to elements, the restaurant at Sanctuary -- and let you ponder your existence over a cantaloupe martini and the prettiest sunset view in town. From the patio of the jade bar, you can see Mummy... More »
As its name implies, the ultra-luxe Sanctuary Resort pampers its guests with seclusion and serenity. Elegant and intimate, perched on 53 prime acres of Camelback Mountain, the gorgeous property certainly encourages us to abandon our cares. The most stressful aspect of any visit, in fact, is deciding just where to relax as we enjoy a fine cocktail and a spectacular, rose-gold-azure sunset. The opportunities to be impressed are endless. Perhaps we'll settle back on the outdoor patio of Jade... More »
Amazing view!!! Perfect place to escape to...
I had a friend that worked here and he said celebrities were always there. It is a beautiful place set in the Camelback Mountains.
This place is extremely nice. It is a little expensive but well worth it!
