Description

SF Weekly's Description

This tiny takeout-only spot is a side project of Dennis Leary, the gifted chef who personally cooks every meal served at his compact restaurant, Canteen. The Sentinel offers a brief, oft-changing American-based menu of wonderful sandwiches, a flatbread and a soup of the day, and a special three-course boxed lunch that includes dessert. The frequently served hot corned beef with cabbage, Swiss cheese, and Russian dressing is wonderful, as are the feta-flecked lamb meatballs with spicy tomato sauce. The staff work as hard as their boss, and the line moves with a speed unmatched in the Financial District.

Step out of the Montgomery BART Station on your morning commute and try one of their giant brimming-with-berries muffins, warm out of the oven. Yummmmmm!
