SF Weekly's Description
Seafood is treated with respect (if not genius) at this venerable San Francisco spot, operating at the same corner since 1861. The original room, complete with pressed tin ceiling, now sports half of a full-size red Jaguar XKE over the bar. Enjoy a gratis cup of savory clam broth before continuing on to massive portions of seafood stew, seafood over pasta, and carefully fried seafood.
Tips from foursquare
Every meal kicks off with bread and a shot of warm clam juice. For drinking? Dipping? Who knows?
The place is under new management...food is not as good.
No more cherrystone clams, big dissapointment!!
The clam juice ain't for sippin...it's just for lookin through
Been coming here for 20 years with my dad. It's not nearly the dive it once was, but every meal still starts off with fresh French bread and a shot of clam juice.
