SF Weekly's Description

Hotel bars are a breed all their own: the only locals are likely the ones pouring drinks and conversations often cover topics such as travel itineraries and weather comparisons. King George Hotel is no different. This England-themed bar exists primarily as a meeting place for guests on their way somewhere else. Nevertheless, the wall-to-wall carpeting, low ceilings, and brightly glowing wall sconces provide a simple space to enjoy a simple drink. Alcohol options are slim - beer and wine only - as are the operating hours: last call (if you could call it that) is usually around 9 p.m., though if bartender-chatting runs over, you might squeeze out another glass of wine before braving the Union Square mobs.

Tips from foursquare

  • Jaime on 03/10/10

Clean, affordable rooms with a friendly staff. Rooms are smallish but sufficient.

  • Otel.com on 04/18/12

This hotel has an ideal location for those who want to be near cable cars and Union Square.

  • Adam N. on 02/16/11

Boulder is all up in this bitch.

  • Kevin C. on 10/04/12

The hotel is fine. The rooms are not big. It is in a happening part of town. The staff is friendly and helpful. Overall, an excellent value.

  • James C. on 11/03/10

It's a decent place, but there is NO air conditioning in the rooms. Avoid hot summer months!
