SF Weekly's Description
If you were a really lucky chap and the Victorian fates smiled upon your fortunes, the Homestead is what your living room would have looked like 100 years ago: brocaded wallpaper, pressed tin ceiling, paintings of en déshabillé ladies, a fireplace, and (of course) liquors and beers served from behind your very own bar. This historical watering hole is suffused with a golden glow - provided in equal measure by the old-fashioned lighting, warm-colored decor, and gentle aura of nostalgia - but it's too convivial and crowded to feel like a museum. Indeed, finding a seat in this popular Mission District establishment can be difficult. Its cozy charms are known throughout the neighborhood - which is a good indicator of why you should make the journey yourself.

Friendly local dive bar, great beer, and sweet bartenders. -Preeti Mistry, Top Chef
Perfect name. It felt like home as soon as I stepped through the door.
