Description

SF Weekly's Description

This bare-bones two-room Outer Richmond establishment serves up beautifully made and amazingly inexpensive dumplings, including perfect soup dumplings (listed as Shanghai steamed dumplings) and tasty fried treats (the Shanghai-style crispy salt pancake is stuffed with shredded cabbage). The Chinese stir-fried and clay pot specialties at Shanghai Dumpling King are also fresh and appealing. And we further recommend the lush Shanghai specialty of braised pork rump. A delightful place to come with a group.

The soup dumplings are to die for...they're # 13 on 7x7's Big Eat SF 2010.

  • Anna D. on 07/27/09

Eat 10 or more xiao long baos

Love love love the shanghai dumplings. Lions head meatball soup is light and soothing (with HUGE) meatballs.

  • Angelo S. on 10/25/09

what's not to love?? There's a dumpling with fresh crab in it--DO NOT MISS. FYI do not expect glamour here. Divey realness.

  • Jasmine M. on 04/22/09

Had 6 different kinds of dumplings/wontons/bao for brunch. And scallion pancake. All fantastic.
