Description

SF Weekly's Description

Sam's Grill and Seafood Restaurant has been at its present location, anchoring the corner of restaurant-laden Belden Place and Bush Street in the Financial District, since 1946, but its history dates back to 1867. Enjoy a traditional American and Continental menu in a classic wood-paneled setting featuring private booths. As well as steaks, chops, and fresh seafood, Sam's offers pastas and salads. Among its specialties are such rarely seen dishes as mock turtle soup, deviled crab a la Sam, poached salmon with egg sauce, filet of sole a la Marguery, sweetbreads, and Hang Town Fry.

Try the Charcoal Broiled Sweetbreads with Bacon. If you really, really like Sweetbreads, you'll love this rustic dish!

  • Joseph R. on 04/04/09

Charcoal grilled Petrale Sole was good. Great for a large group if you get one of the private booths.

It was awesome. The New York steak is hella good. Stephano is great. We were in the chairmans booth all the way in the back. It rocked.

  • Philomena M. on 07/11/13

The staff is great - pleasant and most accommodating. Good food. Delicious cocktail sauce.

Try the Boston Cream Pie (via @Foodspotting)
