Out the Door
San Francisco, CA 94115
SF Weekly's Description
The cheaper, more accessible sibling of San Francisco's iconic Vietnamese restaurant, the Slanted Door, offers equally delightful food, including such famed dishes as the chicken claypot in caramel sauce and cellophane noodles with Dungeness crab at gentler prices. Chef de cuisine Grace Nguyen also offers one of the best breakfasts in town, mixing traditional Vietnamese (rice porridge with chicken) and Western (quiche with bacon jam) morningtime food with culinary mashups like beignets with Vietnamese coffee.
Tips from foursquare
7x7's Big Eat 2012 says the chicken porridge is delicious. Yum!
less pretentious and cheaper than the original slanted door. i highly recommend the spring rolls, papaya salad, and crab noodles.
Have the chicken porridge for breakfast...it's #55 on 7x7's Big Eat SF 2010.
The Shaking Beef will rock your world! This place is so amazing.
Dungeness Crab and Cellophane Noodles are to die for, but I get them w/o the onions so I can taste the sesame more!:)
