San Francisco's certainly no stranger to Mexican food, from the taquerias on every block to the upscale explorations of the cuisine at places like Nopalito. Padrecito, the new brother restaurant of the Marina's Mamacita, is of the latter variety, highlighting seasonal variations of Mexican food in a dressed-up atmosphere. Is it "authentic?" Who cares, or even knows what that means...

The place is cute, sort of like Central Perk on Friends but with a Latin flavor. It's filled with mismatched sofas and easy chairs and tables, and there's a small bar at the back. There were only three people sitting there, but the sign at the door said "Please Wait To Be Seated," and I always do as I am told.
A friendly dude greeted me...
A couple of years ago, local blog Mission Mission conceded that the best burrito in San Francisco couldn't be found in the Mission at all, but actually resides at family-run Cuco's in the Lower Haight. (On top of that, it's vegetarian, too.)
