Description

SF Weekly's Description

You'll think you're in some Delta soul shack (or a Disneyfied rendition thereof) when you settle in among the corrugated metal walls, worn leatherette booths, and rusting beer signs of this Southern restaurant and Dogpatch hangout. Down-home fare like cornbread, yams, black-eyed peas, collard greens, braised oxtails, and fried catfish are the specialties of the house at Hard Knox Cafe. To wash them all down, there's freshly made iced tea and lemonade as well as good beer and a pretty fancy wine list.

Go here, eat the fried chicken, side of corn, side of mash you're good to go.

  • Robin A. on 06/04/10

Try the 3 piece fried chicken with a buttermilk waffle, and sweet tea to wash it down. Good music and service, too.

  • Russell T. on 08/04/11

Corn muffins are the bomb. Warm sweet, crunchy and soft.

  • rachael s. on 07/04/09

had some fried chicken and mac n cheese. it was pretty great.

  • Nik A. on 12/11/10

the 3-piece fried chicken and Mac and cheese are must haves! although everything else is almost just as amazing.
