SF Weekly's Description

The ne plus ultra of Hong Kong-style seafood eating in SF boasts a wall of aquaria housing at least a dozen live aquatic and amphibian species, prepared to your order with nonchalant expertise and panache. Even residents of the newer Chinatowns west of Arguello make pilgrimages here. Sharing the delicacies with a group brings costs down to neighborhood-joint levels, and the rest of the authentic south China menu ranges from high-flying squab down to bargain-priced "Chinese soul food."

President Obama stopped in the Great Eastern restaurant in the Chinatown section of San Francisco.

  • Edward on 12/06/09

try the dim sum for lunch

  • Tim Y. on 03/18/12

    Because OBAMA ate here!

  • Daryl S. on 05/06/10

All of the shrimp dim sum items are great! And that's just the tip of the iceberg.

  • Lesly T. on 04/27/12

One of the most popular Chinese restaurants in SF Chinatown. Their egg tarts have centers that really taste of egg, and their dimsum are exceptionally good. Even President Obama recommends it.
