SF Weekly's Description

A spinoff of the raw-foods restaurant chain Cafe Gratitude, Gracias Madre serves affordable, healthful vegan Mexican food made with organic, local ingredients - and much less of its parent's preachy attitude. The menu at this Mission District restaurant changes with the seasons, but dishes like the vegan posole with a cashew-cream swirl; the vegetable tacos on freshly griddled tortillas; and the quesadilla with pumpkin, caramelized onions, and a toasted-pumpkinseed salsa are hearty and far from bland. It's the kind of food you'd imagine was dreamed up by Moosewood Cookbook-toting hippies wintering on the Oaxacan coast.

Guacamole + freshest tortillas on the planet = heaven on earth

Don't fear the vegan-ness of the posole. It's delightful. Also the server recommended adding a spoonful of the salsa verde to the guac to up the spicy. So good!

Best vegan, organic, raw, wheat free Mexican I've ever had.
