SF Weekly's Description

As one may guess, the Mission has some slammin' salsa bars, and El Valenciano is one of 'em. This classic bar/dance club offers beginning salsa lessons every Wednesday from 9-10 p.m. and dancers show their stuff after class and on weekends, when the mostly over-50 Latin crowd shakes it to a mix of DJs and live bands. Things get hoppin' around 10:30 p.m., but until then expect a chill bar with a top-shelf tequila selection and friendly bartenders. They also usually feature a full food menu; however, the kitchen is currently being remodeled and expects to be finished in early 2011.
