SF Weekly's Description
This handsome, convivial Cow Hollow brasserie offers a France's Greatest Hits lineup of tried-and-true classics like onion soup, frogs' legs, bouillabaisse, and tarte tatin. A teeming bar mixes classic cocktails with panache, there's sidewalk seating for Union Street people-watching, the back dining room is a vision in red mohair and limestone, and while many of the dishes lack the rich flavor of the mother cuisine, others are inventive and delicious. Thoughtful wine list.
Tips from foursquare
Sporting custom chandeliers, gas lamps & a zinc bar flown in from France, the interior is dressed to impress. Expect wine to flow freely in this ode to Paris & brasserie faves like steak and fries.
The blood-red back room at the bustling brasserie is perfect for a rendezvous over steak tartare.
The menu may reflect Parisian cuisine, but it’s driven by the seasonal local markets. The best of both worlds.
Fan of scotch? Access to an extinct vintage is a rarity, but at Cafe des Amis, Gilt City members will have what may be the last chance to experience one of Glenrothes’s finest. Cheers!
Check in for a free bouchon! What I got: perfect little warm dark chocolate cake slightly crusted on the edges, topped with cool chocolate expresso sauce.
