SF Weekly's Description

Bix is San Francisco's closest approximation of a supper club, with a superb bar and very good food that ranges from tony snacks to more serious dining, including thoughtfully composed salads followed by carefully cooked fish, flesh, and fowl, and amazing desserts. Dinner is served in a soaring, luxurious two-story space, art-deco in style, with contemporary art. Live music (piano or piano with vocalist during the week, jazz trio on Friday and Saturday) contributes to the party atmosphere.

Tips from foursquare

  • Eater on 12/01/10

Tucked away in a random Financial District alley, Bix is a restaurant like no other in SF. Classic cocktails flow at the bar and the dining room is alive and popping every night. [Eater 38 Member]

7x7's Big Eat 2012 says the tuna tartare is delicious. Yum!

  • Try this exceptional wine tonight (good price too!): Château Leydet-Valentin (Saint-Emilion, Bordeaux) from the excellent 2005 vintage. Generous flavors of dark fruits, with smoke highlights. Enjoy!

  • Foodspotting on 11/14/10

Try the Bone Marrow and spot it on Foodspotting!

  • Todd W. on 02/05/10

If you've never had beef tartar, this is where you should give it a try. 10!
