SF Weekly's Description

The only restaurant on the West Coast featuring the cooking of Istria, an area at the top of Italy whose culinary influences include Austria, Hungary, and Yugoslavia, as well as Rome and Venice. You'll see pork stuffed with sauerkraut as well as rabbit in agrodolce sauce. The dining room is snug and pleasingly old-fashioned. And it's perhaps the only restaurant in San Francisco to offer free valet parking, no small thing in its North Beach neighborhood.

    The rabbit is astonishing.

Delicious rack of lamb and the strudel for desert really hit the spot, plus friendly service.

Can't go wrong cuz everything is excellent.

  • K Q. on 03/25/10

Go to Albona and try the savory pasta strudel. F'ing yum. (Also, say hi to Michael Bruno, the very cool co-owner.)

  • Janice G. on 04/14/14

The lamb and the dark chocolate amaretto flan is exquisite! Well-paced and excellent service. Make sure to make a reservation.
