Albona Ristorante Istriano
San Francisco, CA 94133
SF Weekly's Description
The only restaurant on the West Coast featuring the cooking of Istria, an area at the top of Italy whose culinary influences include Austria, Hungary, and Yugoslavia, as well as Rome and Venice. You'll see pork stuffed with sauerkraut as well as rabbit in agrodolce sauce. The dining room is snug and pleasingly old-fashioned. And it's perhaps the only restaurant in San Francisco to offer free valet parking, no small thing in its North Beach neighborhood.
Tips from foursquare
The rabbit is astonishing.
Can't go wrong cuz everything is excellent.
Go to Albona and try the savory pasta strudel. F'ing yum. (Also, say hi to Michael Bruno, the very cool co-owner.)
Try the rack of lamb - it’s awesome! Tip: take an Uber in North Beach for FREE (up to $20) anytime between now until Friday 12/20/13 using the promo code NorthBeachSF. (Excludes TAXI). #NBSF
Did not understand why this place got such high rating in Tripadvisor; just a regular Italian restaurant - Risotto was even bad. Was not worth the money
