With its brick walls and rough wood floors, Salt House's appearance is consistent with the kitchen's adept execution of hearty, eclectic American fare. Most dishes hinge on appealing, Southern-inflected combinations of familiar ingredients--dayboat scallops with romano beans and bacon jus, a pork chop with apples and turnips, and roast chicken with black-eyed peas and chicken confit, for example. As is the case with sibling restaurants Town Hall and Anchor & Hope, cocktails are wonderful.
