Sakaya serves a concise menu of casual Asian/Southeast Asian fare such as Filipino egg rolls, Japanese miso soup, Vietnamese bao (steamed buns), and a predominance of Korean street foods such as kimchis, bulgogi wraps, and spicy chicken wings. Natural meat, poultry, and seafoods are used, as is organic dairy and produce, some of which comes from local farms. All menu items are made from scratch, including the curing of meats, pickling of vegetables, and preparation of ssams, ssamjangs, and such. As with many of today's "new" fast foods, the cooking process tends to be really slow. And in the case of Sakaya, the results are consistently delectable - don't miss those pork buns or the Angus hanger steak ssam wrap. Dim ssam Sunday brunch is terrific and absolutely unique to these parts - who else serves scallion waffles with spicy chicken wings? There's a cool selection of sakes, indoor/outdoor seating, and a friendly vibe, plus everything is under ten bucks. Sakaya shows us a glimpse into the future of casual American dining, and we like what we see.

In the land of the food truck court, Dim Ssäm à GoGo is king. Peasants, royalty, serfs, and surfers alike queue up for Kurobuta pork belly bao buns with chili sauce; spicy tater tots; Korean fried chicken; kimchi egg rolls; and gingered Brussels sprouts. All items cost $8 or less."Munch and... More »
