Let's face it: We live in a world were clarinets and flutes get all of the attention. Sure, these instruments are small and cute, but what about the brass section? Where would we be without those instruments? We'd be bored, that's where we'd be,... More »

Hosanna, hosanna! Nordstrom has finally arrived at the Saint Louis Galleria! Only three years behind schedule, but hey: Some things in life are worth waiting for. This latest addition reinforces the 25-year-old Galleria's position as St. Louis' finest shopping mall. Centrally located in Richmond Heights, it's got the best assortment of chain stores: the aforementioned Nordstrom, Macy's, an Apple Store, J. Crew, H&M, Anthropologie, Aveda, Lush Cosmetics, Lucky Brand Jeans. Plus there's a... More »
We're not old, dammit! The waistline on these pants is just deceptively high. But consarn it, when we need to go to the shopateria to purchase batteries for our hearing aids, the last thing we want is to have to weave our way through knots of droopy-drawered hooligans milling about aimlessly. Believe it or not, some women don't want to know that their... More »

We may not stroll the hallways for hours on end like the obsessive shoppers, sale-crazed bargain hunters and cruising adolescents, but now and again we all succumb. They're just... More »
Artificial environments call for a semblance of nature. The little pond that HOK designed in the middle of the Galleria is pretty lame, making an obstacle to walk around rather than an oasis at which to congregate. Artist Eric Orr, who did some wild stuff with blood and glass and the shadows of the pyramids back when artists were doing such wild stuff in the '80s, came up with an elegant solution to the Galleria's denatured space: two pillars, one at the south end of the mall, the other at... When it comes to sheer size and shopping options, no other mall in St. Louis compares to the behemoth that is the St. Louis Galleria. Anchored by huge versions of Dillard's, Famous-Barr and Lord & Taylor, what sets the Galleria apart are its more than 160 specialty stores. Here, you can find a comfy stuffed chair at Eddie Bauer Home, an old-fashioned brass mailbox at Restoration Hardware, a pair of foot-friendly Mephistos at the Walking Co. or the latest in baby bouncy seats at the Right...
