Description

Expect Persian-Mediterranean cuisine derived from family recipes tweaked as they were passed down the successive generations. However, kabobs, like Barreh (lamb), Sultani (ground beef), and, naturally, the Shish, have dominated the available selections since the restaurant opened in 2004. Not content with the traditional, the owners have listed head-turning kabobs. Take, for example, Chicken Anari -- charbroiled Cornish game hen marinated in pomegranate sauce. Mediterranean favorites like hummus, stuffed grape leaves and tabouli are among some of the popular appetizers that share space with stews of the day, lamb shank and a small collection of sandwiches. A comprehensive sampling of Sahara's food is best taken weekdays, when local workers descend on the restaurant -- and the other businesses in the strip mall that share the name -- for the lunch buffet
