Because it’s basically a snooty Outback without the accent, Ruth’s Chris is pretty popular with the indiscriminate eater. That doesn’t mean you can’t enjoy a really nice steak and a bottle of great wine here; you absolutely can. But for all the faux formality and well-heeled affectations, Ruth’s Chris is another big chain steakhouse with a stone-set menu and the same sides and desserts the firm has doled out for years. Nothing changes, so that rigidity leads to doldrums in the kitchen. But the steaks are perfectly cooked every time, and many a die-hard grilled-meat fan has been converted by Ruth’s seared-in-butter method. The spacious rooms feel perfect for anniversaries or graduation dinners in this Boca location. The staff sure have a way of treating customers somewhat scornfully if they don’t happen to look spendy enough, so leave the shorts and flip-flops at home.
