This place is billed as "Houston's first certified green restaurant." You order at the counter, and your food is served to you. The menu is extensive. The high-protein "hempanadas" filled with beef and raisins are remarkably good, and the crab cake fritters are a crowd pleaser. A simple salad of "hydroponic" butter lettuce is surprisingly tasty, and the spicy fish tacos are great. There are 13 different pizzas here, with the steak version being a favorite.

Ruggles Green is a gem in Houston and I am happy it's here. RG has great food, staff and overall atmosphere. My favorite dish is the turkey meatball Panini and the hummus. I highly recommend this for foodies who like to be a little healthy :-) One caveat: it gets really busy at lunch time and tables fill up quick, so go at off peak times (like 11 or 12:30) to be sure you secure a seat.
