Roxy's in downtown West Palm Beach is really several spots all in one - the original Roxy's Irish pub, Rome nightclub (Saturday nights, a club which cranks up in season only), the Dueling Pianos bar, and Sky309 - a rooftop bar and restaurant. Known to downtowners for decades, the pub is a friendly spot for beers and burgers - both of which win raves from diners. Long known for its juicy, hand-formed burgers - Roxy's won every burger competition in the city at one point - their grilled wings and Buffalo wing sliders are gaining a legion of bar foods fans. The rest of the menu is more sandwiches, salads, wraps, soups and noshes. Beer selection is notable. On Sundays, the Sky bar is where to be for brunch. Groups go for money prizes in karaoke at the Dueling Piano bars on the second level. TVs are set up at the huge bar for sports fans, and sidewalk seating suits conversationalists.

Went to Rockeys for the first time a few days ago not expecting much of this college town hang-out. Gainesville bars always get so close, but often times fall short because of one fatal mistake (too small, too loud, too expensive, terrible music, etc...). In this college town, where most of the patrons have such low expectations that owners tend to concentrate on getting their college customers to drink so no one will notice how crudy the establishment is , Rockeys almost gets it completely right. Along with it's neighbor across the street, Sharab, this may be a turning point for Gainesville hang-outs.
