The best damn Irish pub in the world! Okay, you got us, we've never even been to Ireland, but at the very least, it's the best Irish pub in Phoenix. And why wouldn't it be? It comes to us from none other than Séamus McCaffrey, the fellow who lent his name to the second-best Irish pub in the Valley, which is downtown next to the Hotel San Carlos. McCaffrey sold the downtown establishment to his bartender Frank Murray, and opened Rosie's on Camelback. The new place appeals to all senses equally. The fish and chips are superb, as is the corned beef and cabbage, and there's Harp and Guinness on tap, too. Irish music most nights of the week. All in a two-floor building of dark wood, stained-glass windows, and portraits of Irish rebels of yore. And if you stay at the bar long enough, and drink enough Irish whiskey, you may feel a gaggle of leprechauns running up your leg! Céad Míle Fáilte, indeed.
Event Review: Brews to Benefit at Rosie McCaffrey's
I just called Rosie's, turns out the four "beer" offering is limited to just strong bow cider. This minor detail is not specified here or on ticket fly or McCaffrey's homepage. Seeing as the title of the event is called brews to benefit, I think this is a set-up for a massive let down for all event goers. Perhaps I am missing the point, as the charitable donations is the main impetus for even having the event. Yet, I can't help but feel somewhat miffed by the obvious ineptitude of whomever ok'd that a beer happy hour benefit, be distorted into a head pounding, stomach aching sh**show. It's not that I even dislike cider drinks, they are great on occasion. But four ciders in a row are bound to ensure that even the most avid drinker incur a devastating hangover if not by night's end, then definitely by morn. So next time a brew to benefit event is planned and listed, please get your sh** together and make sure an appropriate brew is chosen so no there are no more let downs.
Good spot for hanging out with friends.
I'd recommend the chili.
Great place for a pint and some live music.

A wall of whiskey, Harp-soaked wings, beer-battered fish, a river of Guinness, and Irish music spilling out of the speakers -- yep, you're at Rosie's. Since the day owner Seamus opened this fine establishment on Camelback Road more than decade ago, Phoenix folks have been packing the dark booths and well-worn bar to get their fill of properly poured Guinness, smooth shots of whiskey, and expertly made boxty, filled with stout-soaked beef and boiled potatoes. The lively bar almost always... More »
Rosie McCaffrey's comes about as close to knocking back a pint in true Irish style as can be had in the middle of the desert. Dark and glossy aged wood, exposed cobblestones, and Irish bric-a-brac characterize the pub's homey, cave-like interior. Rosie's offers just about every major UK draft our little sandrat hearts could desire, with a draft Guinness so thick -- and with such a heavy head -- that it left behind a respectable beer 'stache upon first swig. A helpful guide is... More »
Yeah, yeah -- Guinness is still a meal in a glass. We're not about to argue with time-honored barfly wisdom. But our dark Irish stout really hits the spot when we down it with a tasty batch of fish and chips at Rosie McCaffrey's, where Emerald Isle memorabilia and photos of famous Irishmen add to the feisty, authentic pub feel. Here, the traditional dish is a standout: firm, silky cod fillets coated in Harp batter and fried to a crunch, partnered with coleslaw and a pile of crisp, skin-o... More »
Not only is Rosie McCaffrey's the coolest Irish pub in P-town, it makes a smashing plate of Harp-battered Gadus morhua and thick frittered sticks of pommes de terre. Confused? Well, let us get down off our high horse for a moment to let you know that this august establishment crafts the best fish and chips in the PHX: two fat slabs of cod cooked a golden brown served alongside coleslaw and a pile of steak fries. The kitchen staff is careful to keep the consistency of the batter from getting... More »
