This "casual" steakhouse looking out onto Fairfax Avenue has a great Scotch list and an impressive craft beer selection and an inviting atmosphere, even if it does feel like a set-dressed version of a Bowery bar. Too bad the owners don't seem to care much about the menu. Entrees range from bland (beef dip sandwich, steak and ale pie) to badly overcooked (mussels in a salty tom yum broth) to sloppy and downright awful (the Thousand Island-drenched burger). The steaks are adequate though not terribly flavorful. The most noteworthy items on the menu: deviled eggs spiked with horseradish, crisp Indian-spiced chicken wings and golden brown fries. An unwieldy communal occupies lots of floor space. The room is loud and buzzy, more like bar than a bona fide restaurant, which makes perfect sense. It's a fun place to hang with friends and knock back drinks, just steer clear of anything more complicated than the liquor and the ambiance.
