Description

With the exception of a mechanical bull, Rodeo Bar has found a way to incorporate every joyous, grandiose Texan stereotype into one building. Positioned at the center of the room above the bar, for example, is a large oil tank painted red, white, and blue. Orbiting around it is a collection of post-workday thirtysomethings--some sipping on cranberry margaritas, others ordering the 24 oz. Rodeo Steak, the rest casually discarding peanut shells on the floor. Rodeo's live music room hosts small-time honky-tonk bluegrass groups in addition to rockabilly acts with pompadours as puffy as the life-size buffalo model located beside the oil tank.

This place is phenomenal! I am a recent college graduate who loves music but is also on a tight budget. That's why this place is so great! They have live music every night and never charge a cover charge! I follow them on facebook where they conveniently have the acts for the upcoming months and post youtube links so you can hear the bands before you go. I love bringing my friends to this undiscovered gem! In an age of DJ's and pre-recorded loops, live music in the city is really refreshing! They also have drink specials daily from 4pm -9pm which is great! You have your choice of any of their beers on tap for only $4!!! Not only that but they have insanely good (and strong) margaritas that are only $7. But be careful, after a few, you may be a bit tipsy! They also have some really good dishes. My favorites are their wings, cowboy kisses (shrimp and jalepeno wrapped in bacon), bison burger, and mexican taco salad! This is definitely a must go to destination if you are visiting the city or looking for something new to go to! The one suggestion I have is make sure to check out the bands in advance because some of them can be hit or miss. URBAN COWBOYS UNITE!

Yee-ha, I'm a city dude and proud, but lately I've taken a mighty shine to this little oasis deep in da heart of Manhattan, the RODEO BAR. Good drinks, great food, no cover, and some of the best music this side of the Rio Grande. With local acts like Tandy, and Pennsylvania import Frog Holler, this tumbleweed in the Big Apple always provides a rowdy, drunken chance to pretend my Nikes are boots, and one of the many little señoritas is looking at me when she's really looking for the...
