Chef Mohan Ismail's RockSugar Pan Asian Kitchen appears more as an exotic palace than a restaurant housed in a shopping mall. Once you pass the Buddha and Zen garden in the entryway, you will be seated in a large dining room or shaded outdoor patio, amidst waterfalls and dramatic décor. Signature dishes include Indian stuffed flatbread, crispy sweet-hot shrimp, curry, and dungeness crab with cellophane noodles. Prix fixe lunch and dinner menus are available.

The worse experience I have had at a restaurant in over 10 years...I eat out regularly and this situation takes the cake. Many times we are forced to go to a restaurant that isn't a place that we would normally choose to go. Chinese, Asian, and Italian are those kinds of restaurants for me because I do not like sauce on my food. I have terrible food allergies, but I want to live my life like a normal person and still get to eat out. So when I order at any of these kinds of restaurants I order without sauce or sauce on the side!!! At Rock Sugar on Thursday night I ordered the steak without sauce. The waiter told me they are known for their sauces. I told him I know but this is how I want it. He said OK. 10 minutes later the manager of the restaurant came out and said that they are known for their sauces and the head chef does not want to make me a $27 steak dish without sauce. I explained to her that was what I wanted. She said I'm sorry our head chef won't make it that way is there anything else on our menu I would like. I said everything has sauce on it. She said I know. How about easy sauce. Honestly, at that point I was done trying to beg a restaurant to give me what I wanted and I said OK. There idea of easy sauce was so much sauce I could barely find the chunks of mediocre steak. As I tried to eat my steak I realized why they wanted to make sure I got the steak with sauce. It was the most mediocre cut of meat I had in a very long time. A $27 steak dish should be made with such good quality steak that it doesn't have to be marinated for hours to be edible. This was the biggest FAIL for a restaurant I had in the last 5 years. Note to ROCK SUGAR I have 19,000 fans between my 3 facebook pages and twitter and have been posting about this since. Everybody I have talked to agree that this is the epitome of horrendous customer service. You need a less arrogant head chef.
