Description

Roat Osha, which translates roughly to "food for a king," replaced the former Uptown Sawatdee, finally bidding adieu to the tacky curved glass atrium of an erstwhile Arby's-wannabe Rax. Steve and Somsap Hein ran the Uptown Sawatdee franchise for years and decided to remake the restaurant in the same vein as their other restaurant, Tum Rup Thai. Like Tum Rup, Roat Osha is classy enough to bring a date, due to its pretty interior, dim lighting, and pun-heavy cocktail list ("Thai One On," why don't you?). The menus, created by Somsap, a Thai native, are similar: pad Thai, scratch-made curries, soups (an excellent Tom Kha Sot), but Roat Osha's includes more seafood dishes, such as walleye green curry.

    Great Thai food and ambiance. Tucked on the back side of Calhoun square this is so far the best Thai place I've eaten at in Mpls.
