This speakeasy-turned-tavern is set in an upscale residential neighborhood, incongruously enough that a few years ago a couple of cranky NIMBYs tried to shut the old place down, as if it were an irritating anachronism rather than the soul of the island. Fortunately, residents rallied and the 1914 state landmark was saved. Not far from the I-90 floating bridges, and long catering to cross-lake travelers, it's a great place for Eastsiders and Seattleites to meet halfway. The menu offers classic tavern food—a hefty French dip, giant burritos, and the two-thirds-pound Rowy Roanoke burger with cheese and ham.

A long time Seattle establishment, the Roanoke Inn is a fun getaway for a weekend! A chance to relax and have a lil' time away from the day to day grind.

This place is hidden amongst a bunch of residential homes on Mercer Island. Great local pub with a ton of friendly people. Look closely because you'll probably drive right by it without realizing it's there. I grew up on the Eastside and didn't even know about this place until a friend who lived nearby invited me over for a beer. I haven't been there in years but I'm sure nothing has changed.
