While the Roadrunner Lounge's windowless exterior is a bit spartan, its interior is stocked with all the trademarks of a memorable dive bar. Dim lighting pierced by twinkling Christmas lights sets the mood. An old jukebox stocked with sad bastard country songs and an old Pac-Man arcade game provide the entertainment. Booze is cheap: $1 PBRs, $2 Natural Lights, and $3 well drinks. The mixed drinks are poured high and strong and free pool is available during the daytime.

But then, a few months back, we ordered the drink from a male barkeep we'd never seen before, and he reacted as though we had just spoken... More »
A humble confession: When we discovered this place, we rushed back to the office to see what we had written about it. Nothing in the archives. Well, friends, The Roadrunner Lounge shall not be ignored ever again, because it's soooo good. This rundown piece of you-know-what on Hayden Road north of Osborn Road is just steps away from Carlsbad Tavern, next to a curious Dutch-Chinese market, and across the street from a (for real) Starbucks. Things are definitely disconcerting from the outside... More »
