Rita's Kitchen is the casual, Southwestern eatery tucked inside Camelback Inn, the place where hotel guests can go for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, and locals can soak up the Sonoran charm. The comfort food here may not be innovative, but it's pretty good, and the appealing atmosphere and excellent drinks, like stellar red sangria, make up for any shortcomings. When the weather's nice, the patio's a great hangout, while the cozy lounge at adjoining R Bar is inviting all year round.
If it wasn't for our favorite Mexican dip, tortilla chips would be super lonely, chimichangas would suffer, and nachos would be sad piles of melty cheese. Thankfully, that's not the case and we ha... More »
Move over Margarita, your Spanish 3rd cousin, Sangria is popping up on menus all over town. The refreshing summertime concoction of red (or white) wine and boozy fruit layered over ice has become a ... More »
I'll go well out of my way for good food — I'll obsess about it, complicate my schedule, or drive too far for it, and maybe even eat ramen for a couple days to afford it. Whatever. The end justifies the means. When it comes to beverages, I'm... More »
We didn't think things could get any better than sitting on Rita's elegant and spacious patio with a cinnamon-spiked glass of their red sangria -- and then we tried a bowl of the luscious guacamole. Holy avocado! Made tableside with fresh avocados, spicy jalapeños, and tart lime juice, the dip is customized to your liking and served with an overflowing bowl of their delicious tortilla chips. We like ours salty and spicy with a hearty helping of jalapeños and a nice dose of... More »
Back in the day -- read: pre-kids -- we came to the Camelback Inn for long, luxurious visits to the hotel spa. We love that spa. Hot rock massages, thick white robes, and a crystal-blue pool with the prettiest view of Camelback Mountain. We sat outside and ate the hotel's signature yellow gazpacho. And we were happy. Then we had kids. And we were happy, but in a much more, um, complicated way. To say the least. So now, when we need to steal back a tranquil moment or two, we pack... More »
OMG. We've slurped down some tasty adult beverages in our day, but nothing beats the red sangria at Rita's Kitchen, located in the upscale Camelback Inn Resort and Spa. Seriously. Though the food's not bad, the I'll-have-another-round cocktail infuses fresh apples, grapes, and an amazing blend of vanilla and cinnamon into a royalty-worthy elixir. If it's a nice day, take this wonderful drink outside to the resort's patio, gaze at Camelback Mountain, and watch the sun put on a Sonoran Desert... More »
