Description

Claiming to be oldest Salvadoran restaurant in town (founded 1980), Rincon is a spacious corner spot in downtown Jamaica that strives to be more than a pupuseria -- though these pancakes filled with beans, pork skin, cheese, and loroco flowers are alone worth the visit. The sweet-corn tamales, served with a slab of cheese and dab of crema, are also quite good, and the full range of national specialties is also available, including lots of combo plates, thin steaks, hunks of braised and fried pork, seafood, meal-size soups, and even American hamburgers, mainly aimed at the children of Central American immigrants. Also for the kids -- a giant baby elephant at the front door that they're allowed to climb on.
