Description

For more than 20-something years, Respectable Street has reigned strong over the West Palm Beach nightclubs and bar scene on Clematis Street and probably will do so for another few decades. The dimly lit smoky front bar has a large stage where musical local and legends perform on a weekly basis. The walls are adorned in art from the surrounding community, and plush velvet couches line the left side of the room. The outdoor patio allows partygoers to take a break from the high-energy happenings inside or even be an extra in a music video. Never a dull moment inside Respectable Street, and there probably won’t ever be one.

  • 2009 | Best Club DJ

Precious few of the best indie-rock bands see fit to drive their vans south of Gainesville, which is why we're grateful for Marvelous Kendall, one of the resident DJs for href="http://respectablestreet.com/">Respectable Street's Thursday-night party, Flaunt. A whole range of sensational DJs pay visits, but with Marvelous Kendall in the house weekly, you're guaranteed to get rocked just right. With his exquisite taste, he plucks out the newest and finest in the genre as if he had access to... More »

  • 2001 | Best Rock Club

If our strip of lights between ocean and swamp bore more than a passing resemblance to normalcy, clubs that stage rock music wouldn't be such an endangered species. But in South Florida (a place about as easy for touring acts to reach as Michigan's upper peninsula in the wintertime), venues worthy of live national talent are as rare as the Florida panther. Among the pathetic selection, the 14-year-old Respectable Street stands out. More than any other live music venue in the region,... More »

  • 2000 | Best Rock Club

Respectable Street feels like three clubs in one: One moment it's a cozy theater for live music -- local, national, and beyond. Walk in on a different night, and it's a sweaty dance club throbbing with hotties and boisterous beats. During the day it'll change stripes again, becoming a comfy lounge with overstuffed couches, chaises, and a small but sweet patio out back. The staffers understand they're in a pocket of the country where alternative-college music doesn't have a large following,... More »

The Business at Respectable Street on March 16

    | Thu, March 15, 2012

If anyone defines street punk, it's the English group the Business, one of the original boots-and-braces bands that took the peacock style of punk and stripped it down to its bare bones. The Business, and its fans, preferred an aesthetic of shaved... More »
