Since opening in November 2009, Midtown danceteria Republika has undergone quite a makeover from the building's days as shot-and-a-beer saloon Whiskey Creek. Now sporting a swanky chandelier-covered ceiling and a sunken dance floor ringed by elevated watching posts, Republika draws a young crowd primed to go full speed all night long. If you do need a breather, though, try staring at the changing colored lights cast on the stunning rock-wall sculpture for a while. And be prepared to wait in line should you arrive after 11 p.m., especially on weekends.
