Red Hot Robot's toy story is about to come to an end. Owner Jason Kiningham announced today that the geeky boutique, which sold collectible vinyl toys for more than four years, will close at the end o... More »
Vintage voltmeters and pressure gauges get a whole new lease on life in the garage of Aaron Voigt's home in Mesa. Ditto for knobs and dials from antique appliances, old bicycle gears, automobile parts... More »
Remember that hoary old trope about how beauty is ultimately in the eye of the beholder? That’s pretty much a perfect way to describe how metal artists Aaron Voigt and Mikey Sarratt transform trash into treasure. Whereas ordinary folks would... More »
Red Hot Robot's website has an entire page devoted to robots. We don't really have to say much more about them than that, but we will. The store's selection of metal mechanoids is second to none (in the known universe, that is), and Red Hot Robot also carries an artful array of vinyl toys in non-robot shapes. Do you need to get creative with a Munny vinyl toy? Maybe you're looking for some Japanese cell phone straps. If it's the sort of object your inner child desires, you'll find it here.... More »
You know that Red Hot Robot has awesome designer toys. You know it's got a wide selection of vector art. It's not short on tiny trinkets, either. One of our favorite things to impulse-buy is Japanese busts hidden in cardboard boxes. Which Gundam robot will you get? Is it a Zaku Warrior? Is it a Force Impulse Gundam? You're going to have to buy one and open the box to find out. For those of you with a mind for engineering (or at least figuring out how to put stuff together) you'll appreciate... More »
Paying hundreds of dollars for a vinyl figurine may seem like madness. We prefer to think of it as dedication. You never have to grow up as long as Red Hot Robot is around to surprise your inner child with wacky plastic toys, zonked-out artwork, and dozens of books full of vector art. Grab a Munny and permanent marker to create your own toy or purchase a limited-edition John McCain figurine complete with warhawk arsenal. Either way, it's a good investment for the bare and lifeless corner of... More »
Red Hot Robot opened its doors earlier this year, and with that, the northwest corner of Camelback Road and Central Avenue officially reached critical mass. Alongside Stinkweeds (music), Frances (fashion) and Halo (piercing), a toy store for big boys (and some girls) was the perfect thing to round out the edgy corner. Our favorite part? Along with toys designed by nationally-recognized collectible toy designing guys like Gary Baseman and Joe Ledbetter, there's a strong emphasis on... More »
Fun place to look at artistic toys and goodies. Nice staff!
This shop is a haven for adults who still like their action figures and toys. Plus, there are display cases with hand-made/painted ones that can keep you wowed even after you leave the store. There are some really cute t-shirts for sale in here too. I really enjoy looking at some of the odd little toys they have from Japan - interesting to see what kids on the other side of the world find fun.
