This is one of Houston's best-kept secrets, partly because it's tucked away near Timbergrove Manor on the banks of White Oak Bayou. Rainbow Lodge Owner Donnette Hansen presents a menu of wild game and seafood, as well as regional Gulf Coast favorites. Signature entrées include pistachio dusted flounder with lobster risotto, buffalo rib eye with whiskey peppercorn sauce, and the mixed grill of venison, duck, elk and boar chops.

    The wine room at the Rainbow Lodge will seat six, but to enjoy a really long lunch, it's better to go just as a pair. The cozy room is actually the wine steward's office, so you'll be luxuriating next to some of the all-time great bottles of wine.
