Ethiopia-born chef Eskender Aseged started Radio Africa as a dinner with friends in his own home. Now his restaurant started as a nomadic pop-up shop before finding a permanent spot in Bayview. Aseged crafts artful dishes influenced by his home country and his travels through-out Africa and the Mediterranean. Dishes vary according to what's in season, but Aseged often picks lemongrass and other herbs from his own garden, and the ingredients are always locally sourced

Bayview is the up and coming neighborhood in San Francisco right now, with with lots of new dining options opening. Radio Africa Kitchen is one of the latest and best. Chef Eskender Aseged is Ethiopian, but his menu is a fusion that leans heavily toward North African cuisine. It's healthy, fresh and organic, including produce grown in a nearby community garden. There are tasty vegetarian options, but it has meat dishes as well. The vibe is very hip, techno-modern, and Eskender is the consummate chef and host. If he didn't greet you at the door coming in, he will no doubt wish you well as you are departing
