Description

Queen Sheba is a restaurant that-in addition to the somewhat arcane Yemeni stuff-serves good baba ghanoush and hummus, though regrettably with cardboard pitas rather than homemade bread. The stew called lahm masslouq is particularly good, beef braised in a gritty red sauce that tastes of the desert, and the slimy soup made from a river herb called molokhia is delicious, and vegetarian too. Other beef and lamb dishes are occasionally available, and there's always salta (Yemen's national dish)-a bubbling pot of fenugreek-flavored meat-and-eggplant fondue.
