Does the wood-fired pizza oven at this revamped place remind you of the helmet of a Star Wars storm trooper? Maybe we've had one too many glasses of Barolo. The imported oven is made with ash from Vesuvius, so you know those pies are gonna rock. Seriously, folks, this Magnolia pizzeria is owned by the same family that operates Mondello Italian Restaurant, a few blocks away. They ran it as La Mondellina for about a year, but made the leap from take-out pasta joint to pizza joint in the summer of 2010. The open, airy dining room features cozy tables for two or seats at the pizza bar, where you can watch the pies going in and out of the 900-degree oven quicker than you can say "That's Amore!" There's two happy hours at the Queen and outdoor dining when the weather's fine.
