Description

A small gem of a restaurant in a Hazelwood strip mall, Pueblo Nuevo offers authentic Mexican cuisine: uncommon dishes such as the goat stew birria as well as enchiladas and other reliable favorites. Chilaquiles, a casserole of tortilla chips, cheese and chicken, is very good; order it with the salsa verde for a devilishly hot meal. The restaurant's two salsas are popular enough to be bottled and sold. It's understandable -- the darker, thicker version is tart, fiery and addictive.
