A tiki bar and pizza joint with style to burn, Psycho Suzi's Motor Lounge puts the va-va-voom back into neighborhood drinking. Its new location, in the former home of Gabby's, has expanded the size of Northeast's most popular watering hole an enormous riverfront patio and three second-floor bars open only on weekends. First, duck into the dark, red-lit room and soak in an eyeful of every youngish hipster in town. Start the evening by chucking your quarters into the hall of fame-worthy jukebox and soaking in the majesty of the pirate-ship-deck carpeting. When mood strikes, order yourself some standup pizza or some church potluck bar snacks (deviled eggs! pickle roll ups!). And why not buy the cutester across the bar their own tiki glass? It's only a couple of extra bucks.
Went to Psycho Suzi's for the first time this (frigid) spring two weeks ago. Surprisingly it was warm enough to sit outside, and there was a new 2nd story patio! Beautiful view of the river. Service was good. I'll definitely have to get back when it's warmer!
I stopped in to see the new patio last weekend and even with a jacket on, it made me feel like summer is here. Had a pizza and a cocktail from the port of pleasure. Pizza is AWESOME - totally craveable, I drive from across town for it. I valeted my car and didn't have to wait for a parking spot too, which was nice, and valet was friendly. And kind of cute ;). I'll be back!
Awesome river front patio spot.
Caught the first bit of Summer sun yesterday with my dog. They have a "dog friendly" patio so they even brought my buddy a dog dish. Met up with some friends later that night and got a Flaming Tiki Bowl and 2 orders of cheese curds cuz one wasn't enough for this fat kid! The server said they had two frozen Tiki drinks but it was still too cold outside for me and frozen drinks. I will definitely be stopping by on the next 80 degree day!!
While it still barely feels like spring, there continues to be more promise that warm days are on the horizon. Psycho Suzi's just announced that it is ready to debut its new, expanded patio with a sle... More »
Believe it or not, Twin Cities, spring is coming! And as it does, an increasing number of our citizens find themselves drawn to the riverfront to watch the progress. They want to see if the geese are ... More »

Sure, it would be nice to celebrate New Year's Eve in a tropical location. Unfortunately, for most Minnesotans that simply is not going to happen. However, partying in a tiki bar in the dead of winter may be the next best thing. This Monday,... More »
A tiki bar may seem like an odd place to celebrate Halloween, but Psycho Suzi's Shangri-La cocktail lounge should bring some surreal ambiance to festivities. The Psychotic Halloween Costume Party sounds a little like a New Year's Eve event:... More »
Driving by this tiki bar, one might not suspect that an awesome patio lurks behind the fence. Originally an A&W, Psycho Suzi's transformed the space into a tropical wonderland several years ago. The patio, open year-round (though not recommended in January), features all the amenities of a tropical bar in Hawaii: gurgling fountains, thatched-hut table umbrellas, greenery, twinkling lights, and tiki lamps. The specialty drinks are tropical, heavy on the booze, and come in special... More »
Okay, so the ambience isn't as romantic as W.A. Frost or the Black Forest Inn, and the views aren't as spectacular as a place like Café Lurcat, but Psycho Suzi's outdoor dining patio has other things going for it that some of the more obvious choices don't--like unpretentious personality and drinks so potent they are a mini spring break all in themselves. Part old A&W stand, part tiki lounge, and part Nordeast neighborhood beer-and-pizza joint, Suzi's offers an outdoor seating... More »
What good is "happy hour" if it finds you surrounded by long faces, bad music, and office-boardroom decor? Really, if it was just about cheap booze, you could drink at home. Happy hour should have the power to actually improve your mood, especially on those dead-of-winter afternoons when it's dark by three o'clock and the black ice is hazardous and the wind is miserable yet you still can't stand the thought of heading straight home for another night ensconced in your bedroom. And what could... More »
