For all you beer snobs who don't understand why anyone would bother drinking American microbrews when you can imbibe beverages German and Belgian breweries have spent five hundred years perfecting, Prost! is the answer to your prayers. Owned by Chris Navarra, whose decor screams "Teutonic Loft," the place is dim, homey and furnished with banquet-sized tables (there are smaller tables, too, but on a busy night, chances are you'll be sitting next to a stranger, which is part of the fun). While its beer list is relatively short, it always contains some of the best German lagers, schwartzbiers and witbiers you can get without heading to the Mutterland itself. Its menu is similarly German: herbivores will be dismayed by how thoroughly bratwurst dominates the menu (what'd you expect from a German joint?), but we'd bet money that the lone vegetarian offering, a fresh-baked pretzel served with two types of mustard (honey and stoneground), will be the best you've ever had.
Prost reminds me of being back in Munich! If you like German beers & food - this is your spot!
Being half German, I figured I should check this place out. And I must tell you its one of the most authentic German pubs I have been to in the US.
to be honest, i don't hang around greenwood often because it's a little far from my house. but when a couple of my friends suggested a night out with 'the boot', i had no idea what they were talking about. little did i know that it was an enormous hollow glass boot filled with 2 liters of booze... was i dreaming? :) it took us a while to finish it, but all in all i'd say it was a pretty successful night.
