Prairie Ale House's suburban digs are new territory for Aaron Johnson, one of the restaurateurs behind the reborn Town Talk Diner in Minneapolis and the Strip Club in St. Paul. Johnson aims to offer an alternative to the area's homogenous menus of Asian chicken salads and buffalo chicken wraps, but he also knows he can't go too "gastro" with his pub-style fare. Prairie's digs aren't as charming as Johnson's other ventures, but the food shares some similarities, including the loaded burgers, alcoholic malts, and deep-fried pickles. A few upscale entrees--duck confit, scallops--round out the menu, which is certainly not typical for an Eden Prairie sports bar.
